Mapogo FC is a sanctuary of discipline. We actively combat the drug crisis in Mutare by providing a structured environment from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM daily.
Our Standards:
TES-Certified Child Protection.
British Council Safeguarding Protocols.
Mandatory academic check-ins for all student-athletes.
The "Golden Hours" Strategy (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM)
Research shows that the hours immediately following school are the most 'at-risk' for youth exposure to substance abuse. At Mapogo FC, we reclaim these 'Golden Hours.' By providing high-intensity athletic training and academic supervision during this window, we eliminate the opportunity for negative social influences, replacing them with the IB philosophy of discipline and growth.
Tier 1: Physical Safety – Continuous risk assessment of the Zamba Primary training facilities and equipment.
Tier 2: Emotional Well-being – Coaches trained to recognize signs of trauma or distress, providing a "safe space" for open communication.
Tier 3: Digital Responsibility – Educating our athletes on professional social media conduct, crucial for those seeking international pathways.
Tier 4: Anti-Doping & Drug Education – Regular workshops on the physiological and social dangers of drug use, aligned with WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) standards.
A Mapogo FC athlete is a student first. Our Mandatory Academic Check-ins involve reviewing school reports and ensuring students are meeting their learning objectives. If a student-athlete falls behind in their studies, our coaching staff provides academic support and mentorship. We believe that a Balanced student (as per the IB Learner Profile) is less likely to fall victim to the drug scourge.
Zero-Tolerance Policy: Clear, enforceable rules regarding substance use, with a focus on rehabilitation and support.
Open-Gate Policy: We invite parents and guardians to observe training sessions at any time, ensuring total transparency in our operations.
Direct Reporting: A clear, confidential channel for athletes to report concerns directly to the Director (TES-Certified).
"As a Doctoral Student in Global Educational Leadership and a TES-Certified Professional, my commitment to the safety of our youth is non-negotiable. We don't just build footballers; we protect the future of Mutare." — Learnmore Mukando, M.Sc., M.Ed.
